Our focus is on the Insight Meditation practices of early Buddhism (samatha/vipassana), as they are being influenced by and are influencing our contemporary western culture.

We offer a space for the development of meditation practice, dhamma study, and sangha building.

We meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9 p.m at Aikido of New Orleans, 2134 Magazine Street. You can find more details, here:

Upcoming half-day retreat: Exploring the Noble Eightfold Path

Date: Sunday, September, 30.

Time: 12:30 to 4:30.

Location: Aikido of New Orleans, 2134 Magazine Street, 3rd floor.

The Eightfold Path is a foundational teaching of Theravada Buddhism.  This offering will intersperse periods of sitting and walking meditation with discussion about this ancient framework for practice. The primary theme will be how to utilize Buddhist ideas about ethics, action, and wisdom, as guides along the path to liberation.

The offering will be facilitated by Dan Lawton, an experienced practitioner in the Theravada Buddhism tradition and a qualified instructor in Mindfulness-based-stress-reduction (MBSR).

No experience is necessary and there is no need to register ahead of time. This offering does not have a set fee. Participants are welcome to make donations to the facilitator. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. For more information, email Dan Lawton at Dan@nolamindfulness.com.
